ACPA Work Experience 2026
ACPA invites high school students in grades 10-12 with an interest in Performing Arts to submit an expression of interest to complete work experience with us. The placement will occur over 4 days in the same week, Monday to Thursday. Work experience is for school students only who are covered by their school’s Work Experience program insurances.
ACPA has a bus stop at the front door of the building that we are in, and we are a short 7-minute walk from the Fortitude Valley Train Station.
Included in the Work Experience:
Day 1
Student will complete:
- Workplace Health and Safety induction. This induction is mandatory for all personnel working at the Judith Wright Arts Centre, where the ACPA campus is located, and reflects standard practice across future workplaces the student may enter.
- Observation of the facilities
- Observation of the various rehearsal sessions
The induction introduces the student to key safety requirements, responsibilities, and procedures, and outlines measures in place to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for all.
Days 2 - 4
Students will engage in a range of professional performing arts activities. This may include participation in:
- Rehearsals
- Practice sessions
- Fitness or body conditioning activities that support performance development
- Assisting with studio organization
This immersive exposure will support the development of professional awareness, discipline, and an understanding of expectations within performing arts workplaces.
The student will also gain behind-the-scenes access to professional performing arts spaces, including rehearsal studios, sound-equipped rooms, and theatre environments. Through this exposure, they will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of creative processes, repertoire development, and the day-to-day operations of a functioning performing arts environment while also developing transferable skills relevant to future education and employment.
