ACPA delivers training in ‘Elements’ of the longest-living culture in the world – song, dance and storytelling through a contemporary accredited training framework to equip our emerging artists with skills, knowledge and developing expertise to work in the modern performing arts industry.

ACPA encourages and supports our emerging artists to bring, share and weave their culture within modern techniques to determine their practice and elevate their voice within their self determined artistry.

Tjilala Brown Roberts

Tjilala Brown Roberts – self-determined emerging artist

Proud Warlpiri Woman, Tjilala Brown-Roberts commenced studies at ACPA in 2022. Tjilala, talented in multi-genre performing arts, explored music, voice, dance and acting for two years before choosing her major. Tjilala has chosen dance as her major study area for her Advanced Diploma in Applied Performing Arts.

Tjilala’s talent coupled with ACPA’s self-determined training framework has enabled her to:

  • Co-write, co-produce and lead performance in ACPA’s production, “URBAN Elegance” presented at the 2024 Brisbane Festival.
  • Lead performer along with a cast from Hymba Yumba Independent School in Trevor Fourmile’s “Gurril Storm Bird” – a powerful celebration of Gimuy Walubara Yidinji Culture, during the 2025 Queensland Out of the Box Festival performance.
  • Co-lead performance in the production of Bangarra Dance Theatre company’s children’s work “Song of Bogong Moth” during the 2025 world premiere in Brisbane and the 2025 Seasons tour to NSW and VIC.

Tjilala’s contributions and performances in these high-profile industry productions form part of her formal assessment process for her Advanced Diploma in Applied Performing Arts qualification.

Our accredited courses are developed in consultation with high-profile performing arts organisations inclusive of Opera Queensland, Queensland Ballet and Queensland Theatre.  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories and values live through performances, and we train all our students to express their individual culture on the stage.

Highly advanced  artistic practitioners will mentor you, support the development of your technical capabilities and assist you to shape your creative expression.

ACPA is a Registered Training Organisation registered with Australian Skills Quality Authority. Our organisation has strong connections with premier industry partners such as Opera Queensland, Queensland Ballet, Queensland Theatre and Brisbane festival who provides input into our training content and access to masterclasses to give our students opportunities to build skills and confidence for professional public performance.
