ACPA’s CUA20120 Certificate II in Dance course is designed for students ready to take their first step into the dance industry, improve their pathways into tertiary education, or prepare for future employment.

Delivered through 10 units in total consisting of 6 compulsory core units and 4 elective units of dance this foundation course teaches:

  • basic, jazz, street and contemporary dance techniques
  • develop your musical ideas and incorporating artistic expression through dance
  • develop and maintain stage fitness
  • preparing for live performances
  • creative storytelling

This is a nationally accredited professional qualification in which all nation students are encouraged to participate.

CUA20120 Certificate II in Dance

This qualification is made up of ten units in total as described in the Course Units section.

Total supervised hours: 340 hours

Total unsupervised hours: 350 hours

Total unsupervised hours may comprise of:

  • participating in community rehearsals and performances
  • rehearsing music, songs and dance routines
  • researching performing artists, performance styles, background material for performances
  • monitoring and recording fitness levels, diet and training program
  • liaising with community and elders
  • listening to music

Early exit points are not applicable.

A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency completed if the full qualification is not completed.

Completion of the Certificate II qualification provides 4 of the 20 credits required for the Queensland Certificate of Education.

There are no essential entry requirements for this course. Learners are recommended to have completed Year 9 and to have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Year 10 High School standard. LLN support is to be made available when required.
