ACPA’s 11306NAT Certificate III in Performing Arts course is designed to support the further development of existing foundation
skills to a basic level for First Nations and All Nations entry level performers in the live and recorded performing arts industries.
Delivered through 15 units in total consisting of 10 compulsory core units and 5 elective units this foundation course teaches:
- Perform the functions associated across the major genres of the performing arts in music, singing, dancing and acting to a basic level and under artistic/creative direction.
- Communicate and work in teams, Collaborate with others.
- Perform processes that require a range of skills developed to a basic level, under direction.
- Interpret available information using limited discretion and judgment.
- Apply learning in a supervised range of contexts.
This is a nationally accredited professional qualification in which All Nations students are encouraged to participate.

11306NAT Certificate III in Performing Arts
This qualification is made up of fifteen units in total as described in the Course Units section.
Total supervised hours: 530-635 hours
Total unsupervised hours: 670 hours
Total volume of learning may comprise of: 1200-1305 hours
- Undertaking professional performer practice.
- Completing self study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge.
- Completing self practice to revise and reinforce skill patterns.
- Completing written assignments.
Early exit points are not applicable.
A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency completed if the full qualification is not completed.

Entry Requirements

Recommended entry requirements (if applicable)
Learners should:
- Be 16 years of age.
- Have completed education equivalent to year 12 high school level, or hold a Certificate II qualification in a related field.
- Complete an audition or provide another form of evidence which demonstrates their competence in at least one dance style equivalent to Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level 2 or above.
- Demonstrate language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2. LLN level should not be a barrier where suitable support is available.
Learners are granted positions in the course based on interview and an audition process, to identify their suitability and capability to successfully complete training and assessment requirements.
Certificate III is recommended for beginners who have some prior experience in any of the following:
- School musical or theatre performances.
- Foundational dance training.
- Experience in cultural dance troupes.
- School curriculum in performing arts, music and or dance.
- Awarded a Certificate II qualification in a related field.
